After last year’s sold-out debut, we’re thrilled to announce that the Rooted Festival is back on Saturday 30 August 2025 at De Hoorneboeg in Hilversum.
The Rooted Festival is our annual homecoming day for the broad Rooted community. On this day we invite you to explore and celebrate our plural identities and the power of community. Through stories, music, workshops, dance and film we connect and build a home where we all belong.
“At Rooted Festival I was able to experience a feeling of belonging again. It left a flame of hope in me.”
Livia, Rooted participant
Organized by Rooted, UN Refugee Agency UNHCR and De Hoorneboeg, this one-day festival invites you to share (your) stories and be inspired by others as we collectively explore themes as migration, identity and belonging. Rooted Festival is for people with ánd without a migration background. It is a place to together build a collective home in the Netherlands with room for all our identities. The 2025 line-up includes: Kenny B, Glenn Helberg, Sholeh Rezazadeh, Ahmad Joudeh, ÁMÀL Ensemble, Esmah Lahlah and many more.
In addition to Rooted Festival, the forest of De Hoorneboeg will be transforming again this summer to host the annual Bosbios. From 29 until 31 August the forest film festival will feature 3 evenings of outdoor film screenings specifically curated around the Rooted theme. To create more inspiration and safe spaces to reflect and connect around themes of identity and belonging. Where differences have the power to connect

We hope to see you on 30 August!
“Rooted was like coming back home,
Carla, Rooted participant
the in-between home, in between
souls, faces, and soil. It reassured me
of the beauty of being in-between countries,
how rich and diverse it is, and how
many of us feel the same.”
